New York, Chicago, and parts of California are known for the pizza, but why not Cincinnati? Amidst the chain stores that serve their flimsy, soggy cardboard replications of pizza (LaRosa’s included) there stands two places that bake up delicious, gigantic, spicy pies: Adriatico’s and Trotta’s.
Adriatico’s is located in Gaslight Clifton. Their famous “Bearcat” is a counter-top sized pizza piping hot with spicy sauce, loads of cheese, and thick, garlicky crust. There is no where to sit, so all orders are carry-out or delivery. I’d recommend carry-out because you don’t have to wait on the delivery guy, and you can also see the colorful characters who work there. Just be careful in the parking lot. It’s a tight squeeze.
Trotta’s is located on the West side and is also a delivery/carry-out-only establishment. Much like Adriatico’s, they offer a gigantic, delicious, spicy pies (order the Sicilian). Pick up is drive-thru, complete with coolers of beer, wine, and soda.
So this holiday season, when you’re tired of cooking or cleaning up, or just want some pizza, these are the places to start.

I’m a big fan of Adriatico’s – their crust is amazing. I also suggest you try Pomodori’s in Clifton Heights. Really great crispy thin crust pizza and calzones (and it’s pretty damn cheap).
Newport Pizza in Newport is a relatively new but delicious addition to the Cincy pizza scene. They also have a slammin’ beer selection and are open relatively late. And why the obvious non mention of Dewey’s?
I’ll have to give these a try.
I would add Ramundo’s to the list. They are in Mt. Lookout and have the closest thing to NYC style pizza that I have found in Cincinnati. There really should only be two choices when going there:
1) A white pie w/o this tomato nonsense. Add ricotta (not pronounced ri-kotta for fucks sake) so it acutally is a white pie.
2) Meatball. Nuff said.
Ramundo’s is eat-in/carry-out. They can maybe seat 8 people inside, but they do have some outside seating when it is nice out.
If you are a real man, you should try their pizza eating contest. If I remember correctly, it involves a 36 inch pizza.

Dewey’s is good, I agree, but it’s not what I consider to be “real” pizza. Gourmet ingredients are cool and all, but when I think Dewey’s, I don’t think, “Yeah, pizza,” instead, I think, “$30 and I’m still hungry.”
